Llanddona (L) SH 574814 330 285 - 55 semi-exposed
NOTES:
The aspect of the shore was measured as near as possible although some sites, notably Trearddur Bay e and Porth Swtan, were almost level on bedrock.

Each site is, to varying degrees, exposed to the open sea.  The angle through which sites are exposed to the open sea, the open sea arc, was determined for all the sites except Trearddur Bay s.  This site is virtually enclosed by low cliffs except for a narrow gap which faces toward the shore of the main bay.  Rhoscolyn is similarly enclosed but the open sea arc data are given because the protection seawards is limited to below mid-tide level.

Each site is ascribed a biological exposure scale unit based on the guidelines given by Ballantine (1961) but could equally have been given an exposure rating based on shore morphology (e.g. Thomas, 1986).

Detailed below are the sites located at Robin Hood's Bay, Yorkshire and Dale, Pembrokeshire.
Site (code) National Grid Reference Aspect in ° from true North Open shore arc in ° from true North Biological exposure

RHB North Cheek (NC) NZ 955053 n/a 35 - 135 fairly sheltered
RHB Boggle Hole (BH) NZ 958041 n/a 10 - 120 semi-exposed
Dale Black Rock SM 813060 95 90 - 125 very sheltered
NOTES:
The aspects for the two Robin Hood's Bay sites are not included as the wave-cut platform there is practically level
